The time of year you decide to sell your house can mean the difference of + or – 10% of your sales price. If you’ve been following my advice over the past several years my forecasts have been correct and those that take my advice have sold their properties at the highest possible price.
For the past four years the best time to sell is always starting in January and before July. The charts and numbers don’t lie. My monthly forecasts have explained this many times over the years, so please review those to learn more. Buyers are anxious, inventory is low, and properties priced right are getting multiple offers. If you’re planning on selling this year do it now!
Additionally sell while the stock market is high and everyone feels wealthy. Remember what happened last summer? The stock market declined and the housing market slowed down.
Lastly we should expect capital gains rate to drop 10% so you will have more money in your pockets. When Trump lowers taxes it will be retroactive to January 1st.
The chart below shows us that prices have continued on an incline from the current bottom in summer. With inventory continuing to decline and prices rising this is the perfect time to sell.
